Free At Last
Tobias Gebb and Unit 7/Free At Last This record has a variety of styles and tempos ranging from blistering up tempo hard bop to south of the border calypso; from bossa nova to a version of the classic rock song ‘Tomorrow Never Knows’ written by Lennon/McCartney and arranged for quintet plus sitar (featuring guest sitar player Neel Murgai). In the winter of 2010 this CD climbed into the Top 10 on the national ‘Jazz Week’ radio charts. Featuring some top New York City jazz musicians plus the veteran alto saxophonist from Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Bobby Watson.
“…nothing short of spectacular” – All About Jazz
“Gebb’s refreshing approach to the jazz vernacular is commendable. Where many others seemingly go through the motions or run on autopilot, Gebb’s all-encompassing game-plan strikes a resonant chord”. -Jazz Review
